Hi! I am really glad to see a magazine and a website dedicated to the concept of destination weddings. We have just begun planning our destination wedding and we are finding it hard to find reliable information. I went to Barnes and Noble in search for a wedding planning guide or book or anything that talks about the ins and outs of a destination wedding and I found nothing! I later visited another store and out of a wall (literally) of wedding books, 2 were on destination weddings, both of which I bought! So, yes, I love the Destination Weddings and Honeymoons magazine and website! Thank you!!!

I'm finding it hard to find books on destination weddings as well.
To:mruss If the books you found were helpful, what were the titles and where did you find them. Thanks!

I love the website, very slick, a lot of information, love it's interactivity.
Is this site related in any way to Island.com?

Destination Weddings & Honeymoons used to be called Islands Weddings & Honeymoons and was included on the web under Islands.com. In 2005, we changed the name of the magazine to "Destination Weddings & Honeymoons" and built this new web site to go along with it.
Glad to hear you like it!

This web site is great and so is the magazine. To vlahogeo:The web sites that I have found helpful (besides this one) have been www.weddingsitesandservices.com, www.weddinglocation.com and www.destinationidomag.com- they have a magazine too called Destination I Do. Stay away from the knot, the forums there are negative and the info they give you will end up turning you into bridezilla! Several of my newlywed friends have advised me. Good luck!

I just found this website today. I love it! I am just starting to think about planning our wedding and we've always wanted to have a private/secluded destination wedding. I have already found so much information that looks to be helpful.
Thank you so much for all the resources. I'm sure you'll be seeing mor of my posts in the near future

I love your site. A friend directed me here. Wish you had that three years ago when we did ours. I rushed out to pick up an issue.
I would love to see more profies in your magazine of wedding planners. My husband and I almost went into nuclear bridezilla mode when we started planning because there was not much out there. We could not get the resorts to get back to us. In my frustration on Sunday afternoon while my hubs sunk his head into a football came I took a trip around the internet. What I found was a lady, Lindsay who owns Trips Down The Aisle-Weddings on the go! who is a certified destination wedding planner but also a travel agent. One email to her and all of our fears melted away. Because she was a travel agent and our wedding planner the direction to what destination was her best asset. We had several spots that she pointed out the travel times, what places I could have the flowers that I wanted, what resorts gave us the best deal, wedding package information sent to me right away and pictures that their office had taken of resorts and weddings. My first email from her had all of that! Unbelieveable. We printed it off, took off for the weekend and came back with a plan. She contacted the resort who responded back the next day and started booking our guests. We did not have to worry about doing that all myself. I watched last night Who's Destination Wedding is it anyways on Style network and felt so bad for that Caribbean couple that stressed out about doing all the travel plans on the internet. With our guest list around 60 people I would have no hair left. We even paid for Lindsay to come down as my personal wedding planner plus she took care of my guests needs. I could not have asked for more.
You need to profile people like that too. The local wedding planners are nice but they are only going to sell you on their destination and they cannot tell you if it takes 1 hour or 10 hours for your guests to fly there plus get them good rates with the resort.
Now I am preaching her good work! Since our wedding (I started a trend) there have been 5 more plus 2 more next year. All have used Lindsay to Caribbean islands, Hawaii, Greece and Mexico. Had we got not got that advise who knows if we would have been married.
Yes, this is a plug to contact her at lindsay@tripsdowntheaisle.com but having been there and done that I do not wish the future DW brides to go through the same bridezilla moments as me. Believe me I could be on the WE network for sure!

:o This place is great. I could not find mags like this when I was planning our destination wedding. I used regular bridal magazines, expensive for a one or two articles an issue.
I echo the comments from the person above. You need more of those profiles too. I like the person above are baised. It looks like we used the same company. They where :o  Great company to work with. I just had to remember that I was not their only wedding and not call or email 8 times a day. My mom and matron of honor finally gave me the sit down bridezilla talk. Once I listen and relaxed my controlling body everything was great I just needed to listen. I should have not treated my destination wedding like a local wedding stressing about cake flavors, Dj, flowers, things like that. I remember her always saying that a destination wedding is truly about the bridal couple.
My sister is going through her now for their 2007 wedding. She picked your mag at the Ralph's grocer. As you can see I borrowed it. We got married at Secrets Capri resort in Mexico :!: to that place. Never heard of it before was going with Spa Palace.
Thanks for your mag & message board. Can we talk?

I am finding so many answers to my questions from other peoples posts in the same "planning dilema's" as myself. We are getting married in Cancun this Dec-Feb (depending on any possible hurricane damage/recovery) This site is a great resource!

Thank you soooooooo much for creating a website for destination weddings. My longtime partner and I decided that 2007 is the year for us to finally marry; but we chose to do something not in Chicago, where we currently. We decided that we would marry in December in Puerto Rico and it really is great that we can have a reference for our wedding as well as a possible community to network with.
So thanks and 'you rock'! :o
