This is one of the most frequently asked questions from US brides as well as brides from other parts of the world. For US brides you will need a "full" Marriage Certificate, which is available after your wedding officiant has filed your wedding with the Registrar of Marriages. This is an official government document with a watermark of the Cayman Islands coat-of -arms and the Registrar's official seal.

These are available 2-3 days after your marriage. Your wedding celebrant can collect these and mail them to you for a small charge, usually about $25.
This is the legal document you need for name changes, bank matters and other purposes. I would advise you to enquire about this, and make sure you arrange to get it when you are making arrangements for your wedding.

For brides from Europe (except Great Britain) you need an Apostille attached to your "full" Marriage Certificate. This takes a bit longer, 3-4 days, but again, your wedding officiant can get it on your behalf and mail it to you within the week. I would advise that you have him/her register the letter, as it will be exoensive to replace if lost. Cost of the Apostille, registered post etc. is about $150.

Cayman is one of the places in the Caribbean where you can get married the same day you arrive e.g. on a cruise.

I thought I would write this after seeing that for some destination weddings it can take 3 -4 months to get the full Marriage Certificate. I think the Cayman Islands are very efficient in the way they handle destination weddings.
