Hello there!
My future husband and I are getting married in Mexico next year. We live in Canada and were wondering how we make our marriage legal once we come home.
Thanks for any advice you can provide!

This page has information on the requirements for getting married in Mexico, plus a link for more info. One of the two may tell you what paperwork you need to bring with you or home with you to make it legit in Canada.
Good luck!

u will also want to check with your country's laws (as well as the laws of your district/state). We thought we were all set b/c we did research making sure that our marriage woudl be recgnized in the U.S but we ended up with quite a scare when we encountered difficulites in our state. It was impossible to find an information, but after a month, we luckily came up with a workable solution.
While the US will recognize our South Pacific marriage (apostilled documents), we have realized that we will also need to marry in our state again. Not because the marriage won't be legal here, but in order to change my name and change all my IDs, paperwork. It is the easier and cheaper way to resolve that (either this our going thru the courts and paying high fees for a name change). We will have our real ceremony abroad first and then head to City Hall at home purely as a formality.
Cover all your bases so you don't have any horrible scares like we did!

you can ask Canadian authorities your problem Don't try to fake them .Just them all the reality & ask what paper should be done.

The best advice I can give you (which is something my fiance and I are doing) is... before you leave for your destination wedding go to your local courthouse and get "officially" married. That way it's one less thing you need to worry about when you return from your honeymoon. No one really has to know, or you just let the parents know saying its just for paper reasons and the real ceremony is on location.
Surprisingly, our parents are okay with it.

Marriage is a bonding of two souls and bodies who start giving their best to each other after marriage. As per us Marriages are made in heavens as God chooses the right and best person for you for the next seven births.Don't give weird names to such a lovably religious bonding.
