Hi everyone, I need help!
We're getting married in Vegas in March. I did a newsletter last year to give everyone plenty of time to figure out if they could go. My deadline is 1 week away and I've got about 20 peeps going. Yipee! My fiance thinks we should still send out invites a month before the wedding. We are having a reception there and one in my home state(Ohio, where we live) and one in his home state(Michigan), all 1 month apart from another. My biggest problem is I feel sending them out the first of March is really early for a May reception. And on top of that, I'm not really sure how to word the response card and what date to rsvp by. Some people will come to both.
will attend OH reception
will attend MI reception
will attend both
??? Ugh!!! Any help or ideas would be wonderful!!!

Depending upon your date for a May reception. I saw where you gave the first part of March for the invite but nothing for the reception dates.

Actually I have always suggested that if you plan on having a reception at home, send it out with the season. So if you are going to have it in May there is not a wealth of summer type activities that people would need to know in advance to make it. Then I would send it about 45 days prior. However if you are looking for Memorial Day then I would send it out 60 days prior.

The wording for the RSVP attending OH or MI or both, is perfectly acceptable. And I would give them only 14 - 20 days from the date you sent it out. So if you have an invite sent out 45 days prior, give about 5 - 7 days for the mail to reach them that is 38 days prior. If you request a 14 - 20 day advance notice that gives them a quicker turn around to get that back to you. Sometimes when you send it out too early people stick it somewhere and forget about it. If you give them a lesser time to answer you back the response rate seems better. Otherwise you will have to plan for extra meals rate because the higher turn out of people not RSVP, but just showing up because they don't remember if they did or not.

I hope that helps! Best wishes!
