I'm looking for a little help. I think we've narrowed our wedding location to Dreams Los Cabo or Dreams Tulum. If you've been to either, I would love to hear about your experience. We haven't set the date and feel like I need to choose one of these locations before we set a date with our travel agent.

My fiance and I visited Dreams Tulum back in October 2005 and let me tell you that it was an amazing experience throughout. The resort was gorgeous and the staff was very attentive and took care of all of our needs. Unfortunately, our vacay was interrupted by a major hurricane, but the staff took amazing care of all of the vacationers. When we left the resort was having an additional wing being built, with additional rooms and another pool with a swimup bar. I would definitely recommend it as a resort to hold a wedding, we are keeping it as an option for our own wedding! :)

Hi,
I have been to both of the resorts and as the owner of a destination wedding company we have dealt with both of the resorts man times, plus I am a Master Agent with Dreams Resorts for the past three years. We are travel consultants who are also wedding planners. Been doing this for 11 years now to make it easy for couples to have one voice to talk with. So I have worked on both sides the travel and wedding planning with the resorts directly. Just so you know where this advise is coming from.
What I tell couples is that you need to look at what is the most important feature that you want for your wedding. Usually when people are looking between Cabo and the Riviera Maya area what sways them is the beach. There is not a wealth of swimable beaches in the Cabo area, where as the Tulum location has a beautiful beach area with a few rocks, but you can at least go in there. They also like that they can now purchase into the new rooms that Tulum added on. With Dreams Cabo there has not been a wealth of updates done since they where the Camino Real Resort.
Finally I would have to say the options at Dreams Tulum is better then Cabo for a backup plan. I always tell a bridal couple that you have to at least approach the situation and look at what they offer no matter what time of year that you travel. You could have an afternoon shower in January that could bring your wedding indoors. Find out what the resort does, is it the front lobby or do they have a convention or meeting center at the resort. Dreams Tulum has a new convention/meeting center there where you could put in the ceremony and/or reception in case of bad weather.
As for the wedding planning I do enjoy talking with the Dreams Tulum person. She has been with the resort for awhile, so she knows her stuff. With the resort so spread out, not right next to another one like at Dreams Los Cabos, you can really have a more private event. The ceremony can be at the ends of the resort pointing away from the resort or from public view. You might have some beach walkers but they do respect a wedding. With Dreams Los Cabos the beach is very public with many resorts near by who can walk by at any time. So it depends upon what kind of wedding experience that you want to have.
I hope this helps! Best wishes on your special day!
